Belarusian Military Teams Set Off for International Army Games 2016

On 21 July, at the parade ground of the 50th Combined Airbase, Air Force and Air Defence, an official ceremony was held to mark the departure of the Belarusian military team to participate in the International Army Games 2016.

The ceremony was attended by Belarusian Defence Minister Lt. Gen. Andrei Ravkov.

Belarusian military personnel participate in various international competitions and contests on a regular basis. Participation in the Army Games is not only an exchange of experience and improvement of field training, but also the strengthening of international military cooperation and demonstration of capabilities and achievements.

Belarusian participants of the Army Games went through a multi-level selection process. Within a few months, the best were selected to take part in the competition. Some teams are nearly 50 per cent made up of conscripts.

Belarusian teams will take part in eight competitions (Aviadarts, Tank Biathlon, Airborne Platoon, Clear Sky, Sniper Frontier, Safe Route, Keys to the Sky and True Friend).

This year the Belarusian military participating in the Tank Biathlon competition will use the equipment that is in service with the Belarusian Army – the T-72BM1 tanks fitted with the sighting system Sosna-U which is developed by Belarusian defence company Peleng.
