There are two types of Ph.D. degrees in Belarus: Candidate of Sciences and Doctor of Sciences.
In the Belarusian military, one can become Candidate of Sciences in the following academic institutions:
- Belarusian Military Academy;
- Research Institute of the Belarusian Armed Forces;
- military medical department, Belarusian State Medical University.
The Belarusian Military Academy provides postgraduate study in the following fields:
- radar systems (engineering);
- operational art in general, as well as in different armed services and branches (military science);
- general tactics, as well as tactics of different armed services and branches (military science);
- system analysis, simulation of combat actions and military systems, as well as computer technologies in the military (engineering);
- armament and military equipment (engineering);
- maintenance and recovery of armament and military equipment, as well as technical support issues (engineering).
The Research Institute provides postgraduate study in the following fields:
- radio and TV systems (engineering);
- operational art in general, as well as in different armed services and branches (military science);
- armament support theory, military-technical policy and armament support system (military science and engineering);
- system analysis, simulation of combat actions and military systems, as well as computer technologies in the military (engineering).
The Belarusian State Medical University provides postgraduate study in one field — surgery (medicine).
To become Doctor of Sciences in the Belarusian military, one can apply to the following academic institutions:
- Belarusian Military Academy;
- Research Institute of the Belarusian Armed Forces.
