CIS Chiefs of Signals to Meet in Minsk

On 7-8 October 2014, Minsk will host a regular session of the CIS Chiefs of Signals Coordination Committee, comprising chiefs of signals of the CIS member states’ armed forces.

The event will be attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.

The participants will discuss the results of amending the Agreement on Military Satellite Communications Systems and their further improvement for the benefit of the CIS member states’ armed forces. They will consider a draft agreement on cooperation between the CIS member states’ armed forces in the sphere of communications.

Besides, the participants will sum up the results of the Coordination Committee’s activities in 2014 and will plan its work for 2015.

The programme of the event will also include a round table discussion on the development of the unified communication system between the armed forces of CIS member states. The participants will also discuss organisation of an exhibition of new and upgraded communication systems that are in service with the Belarusian Armed Forces. The exhibition will take place on 8 October at the 86th Signals Brigade in Kolodishchi.

The CIS Chiefs of Signals Coordination Committee of the CIS Defence Ministers’ Council was established in 2002. It is a collegiate body that works on a provisional basis. It considers and coordinates the issues of providing communications during the training activities and employment of the CIS member states’ armed forces and Regional Joint Force, as well as works out proposals on the operational planning of signals troops’ employment.
