A formal opening ceremony was held at the Brestsky training range for the joint tactical-special exercise Forest Brotherhood – 2026 involving reconnaissance units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus and the Air Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.

The exercise is aimed at improving joint actions by the units when carrying out reconnaissance tasks, enhancing operational interoperability, practising the use of weapons and military equipment, and sharing experience between Belarusian and Kazakh service personnel in the organisation and conduct of reconnaissance operations.

Over the coming days, service personnel from the two countries will take part in comprehensive manoeuvres. Particular attention will be paid to the organisation and conduct of reconnaissance, as well as the search for and neutralisation of illegal armed formations in forested and swampy terrain.
