An official welcoming ceremony was held for Union Minister of Defence of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar General Tun Aung visiting the Republic of Belarus.
This is Tun Aung’s first visit abroad as head of the Defence Ministry.
Defence Minister of the Republic of Belarus Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin met his counterpart from the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
The talks between the Defence Minister of the Republic of Belarus and Union Minister of Defence of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar General were held at the Central House of Officers.
The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus welcomed General Tun Aung, noting that Belarus regards Myanmar as a strategic partner in South-East Asia.
Discussing military cooperation issues, the Belarusian Defence Minister emphasised the constructive dialogue between Myanmar and representatives of State Authority for Military Industry of the Republic of Belarus. Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin highlighted the development of interagency cooperation in military education, combat training, and stressed the need to strengthen interaction in ideological work, and welcomed the exchange of experience between Belarus and Myanmar in air defence.
Union Minister of Defence of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar General Tun Aung thanked his Belarusian counterpart for the warm welcome and highlighted:
“Geographically, Belarus and Myanmar are very far from each other. But what matters more is the closeness of spirit: Belarus and Myanmar are friendly states. Our countries have established both economic and military cooperation”.
General Tun Aung invited Belarusian Defence Minister Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin to pay an official visit to Myanmar.
Union Minister of Defence of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar emphasised his interest in exchanging experience in air defence, communications and the defence industry, as well as in sending military personnel to Belarus for training.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues was discussed, covering not only bilateral military and military-technical cooperation but also economic cooperation.
Defence Minister of the Republic of Belarus Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin and Union Minister of Defence of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar General Tun Aung laid flowers laid flowers at the Victory Monument in Minsk.
