Joint Strategic Exercise of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation “Zapad-2025”

The joint strategic exercise of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation “Zapad-2025” will take place from 12 to 16 September 2025.

The theme of the exercise: “The use of regional groupings (forces) to ensure the military security of the Union State”.

The main objectives of the exercise are:

– improving the skills of commanders (command officers) and staff in managing groupings (forces) to repel aggression against the Union State;

– enhancing the level of coordination between command authorities and the field training of military personnel in carrying out joint tasks to maintain peace, protect interests and ensure military security;

– drilling various options of joint actions to neutralise threats and stabilise the situation on the borders of the Union State.

The “Zapad” exercise is a planned element of joint training for the forces and resources of the regional group of troops (forces). It was preceded by a series of events held in both the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation.

The exercises are planned and conducted at training grounds in the interior of the country or in its eastern regions.

The Republic of Belarus is committed to the strengthening of international peace and security, condemns the use of military force as a means of achieving political objectives, as well as maintains the principles of peaceful settlement of disputes, sovereign equality of states, non-interference in internal affairs, and other generally recognized principles and norms of international law.
