Annual Briefing by the Head of the International Military Cooperation Department

The Central Officers’ House of the Armed Forces hosted the annual briefing of the Chief of the International Military Cooperation Department, Assistant to the Defence Minister for Foreign Military Policy Valery Revenko for the representatives of the military-diplomatic corps accredited to the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Belarus.

During the event the approaches to the military policy laid down in the draft updated Military Doctrine were highlighted, information on the directions of construction and development of the Armed Forces became actual.

During the briefing Valery Revenko emphasised:

- the development of the Armed Forces of Belarus is carried out solely from the point of view of ensuring defence sufficiency and is not directed against any states;

- against the backdrop of the increasing pace and scale of armament programmes in the European region, the Belarusian army is not being drawn into a new arms race, while the Armed Forces are implementing a set of measures to repel any aggression;

- the Republic of Belarus has intensified ties with partners in Asia, Africa and Latin America interested in military cooperation aimed at ensuring national and international security;

- having shifted the focus of military cooperation from Europe to other regions, the Republic of Belarus continues to comply with the obligations and restrictions provided by the arms control system, including the CFE and the documents adopted in its development;

- the Republic of Belarus is ready for bilateral and multilateral substantive consultations and negotiations on common European security.
