On 24August 2020, the leadership of the International Military Cooperation Department of the Belarusian Defence Ministry held a meeting with military attaché at the Lithuanian Embassy in the Republic of Belarus.

During the appointment, the lithuanian attaché was informed about the violation of the state border of the Republic of Belarus in airspace from the lithuanian side on 23August 2020 and protested. The violation was prevented using a Mi-24 helicopter of the Belarusian Air Force.

The Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus have evidence, obtained by means of objective control, for the fulfillment of tasks by aviation of the Armed Forces strictly in the airspace of Belarus.

In turn, the Belarusian side hopes that the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania on the alleged violation of Lithuanian airspace by the helicopter of the Belarusian Air Force will have an evidence base without reference to political issues.
