Belarusian Defence Minister to Attend CIS Defence Ministers’ Council Meeting

On 30 November 2016, Moscow will host a regular meeting of the CIS Defence Ministers’ Council.

The event will be attended by Belarusian Defence Minister Lt. Gen. Andrei Ravkov.

The agenda includes discussion of twenty issues, the main ones are:

· joint events to mark the 25th anniversary of the CIS Defence Ministers’ Council

· the results of the work of the CIS Defence Ministers’ Council bodies in 2016

· the draft action plan of the CIS Defence Ministers’ Council for 2017

· the main areas of development of cooperation among the CIS member states’ armed forces in the field of military hydrometeorology until 2020

The Belarusian Defence Minister will hold bilateral meetings with defence ministers of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.

The parties will discuss ongoing bilateral interdepartmental cooperation and approve bilateral cooperation plans for 2017.

Decisions taken at the CIS Defence Ministers’ Council Meeting and above-mentioned meetings will contribute to establishing common approaches and mechanisms to developing the CIS military component.
