International Military-Scientific Conference

International Military-Scientific Conference

On 16-17 November 2016, Minsk hosted an international military-scientific conference on problematic issues of command and control over multinational contingents of Collective Rapid Reaction Force (CRRF) with the aim to ensure military security of the CSTO member states.

The conference was initiated by the CSTO Joint Staff and organised by the Belarusian Defence Ministry and the Armed Forces Research Institute.

Representatives of the CSTO Joint Staff, defence ministries of CSTO member states and Belarusian uniformed departments discussed the problematic issues of command and control over the CRRF multinational contingents with the aim to ensure military security of the CSTO member states.

The participants noted that the military-political situation in the Eastern European region of collective security is characterised by the escalation of tension and negative trends in the field of international and regional security. These and other factors necessitate the revision of attitudes and approaches to organising command and control over the CSTO CRRF.

The participants came to the conclusion that the development and improvement of command and control over the CRRF multinational contingents is a priority for all the CSTO member states. Command and control must be exercised under a common concept and plan and within a common system under the guidance of coordinated command and control bodies.

During the conference, the participants developed a number of recommendations, which were reflected in the final resolution. Their implementation will contribute to the enhancement of defence capacity of the CSTO member states’ armed forces and improvement of the CSTO collective security system.
