International Military Cooperation Issues

Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Col. Gen. Yuri Khachaturov is visiting Belarus from 28 to 30 August.

At the bilateral meetings of Belarusian Defence Minister Lt. Gen. Andrei Ravkov and Chief of the General Staff, First Deputy Defence Minister of Belarus Maj. Gen. Oleg Belokonev with Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Col. Gen. Yuri Khachaturov, which were held on 29 August, the parties discussed a number of issues, including joint operational and combat training in the CSTO framework and development of air defence cooperation among the CIS member states.

The Belarusian side thanked Yuri Khachaturov for observing the scenario of joint actions and taking part in the closing ceremony of the Indestructible Brotherhood 2016 exercise of the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces, which took place on 27 August.

The parties noted that joint exercises allowed the countries to consistently develop and strengthen military cooperation in the CSTO framework, as well as search for mutually acceptable solutions to ensuring stability and security in collective security regions.

The meetings and talks held during Yuri Khachaturov’s visit to Belarus allowed the parties to analyse the state of bilateral cooperation and identify promising areas of cooperation taking into account national interests and priorities.
