Belarusian Paratroopers Are to Land Again at the North Pole

On 3 February, according to the International Military Cooperation Plan of Belarusian and Russian Defence Ministries for 2016, a delegation of the Russian Airborne Forces Command arrived in Minsk on a working visit.

During the visit, representatives of the Belarusian and Russian Armed Forces will clarify procedure, schedule, and terms of joint activities in the current year. Most of them are trainings of units of the Belarusian Special Operations Forces and Russian Airborne Forces, which are to be held on the territories of both countries. Participation of Belarusian service members in the oncoming humanitarian operation at the North Pole will be one of the main activities. Last year, for the first time service members of the Belarusain Special Operations Forces together with the colleagues from the Russian Airborne Forces successfully conducted a landing operation with parachutes at the North Pole.

Carrying out such joint activities has become a tradition, and they are held annually with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation.
