Representatives of Verification Centres of OSCE Member States Arrive in Minsk

On 24 August, representatives of verification centres of OSCE from Austria, Belgium, the UK, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Poland, the USA, Turkmenistan, France, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Sweden arrived in Minsk to participate in a course on implementation of international arms control treaties.

This event signifies the desire of Belarus to cooperate with OSCE member states regarding the arms control issues and gives possibility to discuss the implementation of international arms control treaties. The event will also permit to have practical training and share work experience of the implementation of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe, the 2011 Vienna Document on Confidence and Security-Building Measures.

The course programme includes classes on the provisions of international arms control treaties, improving knowledge of the Russian language, as well as two practical events, which are a training verification of the announced area under the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe and training visit under the Vienna Document.

Officers of the National Agency for Control and Inspections and representatives of verification centres from Russia, Germany and Ukraine will be the instructors during the course.
