ICRC Representatives Visit Belarus

Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Russia, Belarus and Moldova Bruno Uskine and Oleg Serzhevich have today completed their visit to Belarus.

The aim of the visit was to hold seminars with the Belarusian military dedicated to the integration of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) into the armed forces.

The seminars were attended by the representatives of the Defence Ministry, General Staff of the Armed Forces, Belarusian Military Academy and 72nd Joint Training Centre.

The participants discussed compliance with IHL during a contemporary armed conflict and possible ways of IHL integration into preparation and conduct of combat operations, as well as humanitarian aspects of warfare.

During the visit, the representatives of the ICRC Delegation held meetings with the administration of the Belarusian Military Academy and commanders of the 72nd Joint Training Centre.
