Minsk to Host Collegium of Belarusian and Russian Defence Ministries

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu will visit Belarus on 29 October to participate in a regular session of the Joint Collegium of the Belarusian and Russian defence ministries.

The two defence ministers will take part in the collegium’s scheduled session to discuss military security of the Belarus-Russia Union State. In particular, the agenda will include issues related to air defence combat duty, joint protection of the Union’s external air border, establishment of the Belarus-Russia United Regional Air Defence System, joint training activities in 2015 and cooperation in electronic warfare, as well as preparation for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

During the visit, Belarusian Defence Minister Lt. Gen. Yuri Zhadobin will hold a face-to-face meeting with Sergei Shoigu.

Chief of the General Staff, First Deputy Defence Minister of Belarus Maj. Gen. Oleg Belokonev will meet with his Russian counterpart Army Gen. Valery Gerasimov.
