ICRC Representative Visits Belarus

Oleg Bondarenko, representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Russia, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine visited Belarus.

The aim of the visit was to hold seminars with the Belarusian military dedicated to the integration of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) into the armed forces.

The seminars were attended by the representatives of the Defence Ministry, the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Belarusian Military Academy and the Western Operational Command.

The participants discussed the issues of compliance with IHL during a contemporary armed conflict and possible ways of IHL integration into the military education and training of troops.

During the visit, Oleg Bondarenko held meetings with the administration of the Belarusian Military Academy and commanders of the Western Operational Command.
