Training Course for Representatives of Verification Centres

From 25 August, the Belarusian National Agency for Control and Inspections, Defence Ministry department, is holding a training course on implementation of international arms control treaties for representatives of verification centres of OSCE member states.

The course involves 17 representatives from verification centres of Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, the UK and US.

The course is aimed at studying the provisions of international arms control treaties and deepening knowledge of the Russian language, as well as sharing experience of working as inspectors and attendants under the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe and the 2011 Vienna Document on Confidence- and Security-Building Measures.

The National Agency for the Control and Inspection, Defence Ministry department, has accumulated considerable expertise in supporting foreign inspection groups and conducting inspections under international arms control treaties.

In organising the course, Belarus shows the desire to expand cooperation with other verification centres by enabling their representatives to meet and discuss the current implementation of international arms control treaties and practical training in the Russian language.
