Belarusian Military Participating in Indestructible Brotherhood 2014 Peacekeeping Exercise

The Indestructible Brotherhood 2014 peacekeeping exercise of CSTO member states has been launched today at the Ala-Too Training Centre, Kyrgyzstan. The exercise will be held from 29 July to 1 August and will involve Belarusian service members. An Il-76MD aircraft with a peacekeeping company of the 103th Guards Independent Mobile Brigade on board landed at the Kant Airbase last Sunday.

The topic of the exercise is the Preparation of CSTO Peacekeeping Forces to Conduct a Peacekeeping Operation in the Central Asian Region of Collective Security.

The exercise will involve peacekeepers from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.

The key objectives of the exercise are to strengthen interaction between the CSTO peacekeeping forces, improve the field training of the military personnel, train officers for conducting peacekeeping operations and control units of CSTO peacekeeping forces and reconsider the structure of the command bodies of CSTO peacekeeping forces.

Peacekeepers from six countries will perform the following tasks: conducting checkpoints, hostage rescue, convoying humanitarian aid and riot control.
