Andrey Zhuk was born on 6 August 1969 in Gorki, Mogilev region. He graduated from the Minsk Suvorov Military School in 1986.

After graduating from the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Military Command School in 1990, he served as Commander of a Motorised Rifle Platoon, Company, Tank Company, Chief of Staff - Deputy Commander of a Tank Battalion, Commander of a Tank Battalion of the 334th Guards Motorised Rifle Regiment of the 120th Guards Motorised Rifle Division, Deputy Chief of a Motorised Rifle Division headquarters of the storage base for weapons and equipment of the North-Western Operational Command, Deputy Commander of the 361th Security and Maintenance Base of the Belarusian Defence Ministry.

In August 2007 he graduated from the command and staff faculty of the Belarusian Military Academy with honours and was appointed Senior officer of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. Later, he served as a Senior officer of the Seventh Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Chief of Staff - First Deputy Commander of the 120th Separate Guards Mechanised Brigade of the North-Western Operational Command, Commander of the 6th Separate Guards Mechanised Brigade of the Western Operational Command, Commander of the 11th Separate Guards Mechanised Brigade of the Western Operational Command, Deputy Commander of the Western Operational Command.

Since 2018 Maj. Gen Andrey Zhuk was Commander of the North-Western Operational Command.

Since March 2021, Maj. Gen. Andrey Zhuk has been appointed Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus.
